Media:
The media in India have a valid point in saying
that the PM is not addressing the press; instead second rung bureaucrats are
interacting with the press on matters of “National” importance. We can have
differing views on the merits of such an interaction.
A prime point is the interaction with the
Political heads in democracies is couterproductive, where the media is thought
to be prejudiced and is working on their respective agenda. We can’t for sure
say that there is no truth in the matter of partisan media!!! Also, the press,
I notice is always intent on “cornering” the leaders with uncomfortable
questions (in the name of freedom of press) just for sensationalism…merits and
demerits of this process can be debated.
I am presently stuck in NJ across the Hudson from
NY. I follow live the daily briefing of the media in the White House. I have
learnt that there is more news / knowledge from what the team, bureaucrats,
talks about the situation than does POTUS. With POTUS and the press it is always
a tussle – from the questions posed, one can decipher the corner it is coming
from - the Blue (Democrats) or the Red (GOP); unfortunately for most part there
is no worthwhile outcome from these conversations.
Ditto, India?
Robots ruling the world:
Robots will never replace humans except for
repetitive jobs like in the assembly lines. But AI and automation can lead to
something more dreadful – humns will be converted to robots!!! Sample this….
Yuval Noah Harari, the author – historian says, “Facebook tells
you what is new, Google tells you what is true, Netflix tells you what to
watch, Amazon (and Alibaba) tells you what to buy… Algorithms decide whether
you get a loan, are eligible for an employment” and so on…He continues to say that
Artificial Intelligence and Biotech will hack you because AI will know more
about you than you do.
Watch out for more sophisticated apps which will more and more
control human behaviour!!!
